First expansion to critically acclaimed Karak 2 is called Imperium, because the central novelty is that the fight against the Dark General requires one of the heroes to take on the difficult task of the Emperor. The role of the Emperor has its perks, but also disadvantages. Because only one can wear the crown, Karak 2: Imperium also implements player versus player combat mechanics - any hero can attack the Emperor and try to steal the crown. In addition to this new game mode, the expansion also introduces five new heroes, four of which are old acquaintances from the first game and their expansions, and one hero is brand new, as well as several new landscape tiles and two new monster types.
